Each day the workout will work to test a different part of your functional strength or conditioning, never putting the focus on one particular thing (not specializing) with the goal of building bodies that are capable of anything and everything that life can offer.
The WOD (workout of the day) will have the prescribed (Rx'd) weights, distances, reps, etc - but can always be scaled based on age, ability and skill level.
If the workout calls for squats with 165lbs but you can only squat with the barbell (35 or 45lbs) then that is what you'll do. Or, if the number of reps is too many, we'll reduce them to work within your capabilities.
The coaches are there to lead workouts, provide feedback, help push you, and to ensure you are moving safely. They will always focus on form first and push intensity second.

I started with Carstairs CrossFit in Jan 2020 having no background in CrossFit or even a gym, I was nervous about going, but after my first class I knew that my only regret was not doing it earlier. Joined the CrossFit team 4 years ago, never thought it could change my life so much. I hadn’t found a workout routine that I loved doing and that my body reacted to since having kids. Never in my life would I have thought that I would be doing pull ups and hand stand push ups at 40 yrs old. It’s the best way to start my day... even at 5am. The coaches, the people, the atmosphere, the energy when you walk in is just amazing.
My CrossFit experience with CrossFit Carstairs for the last 4 years has pushed me outside of my comfort zone in the best way possible. Whether you are beginning your fitness journey or just new to the group style setting, it offers a great pace for everyone. The coaches provide support beyond the daily WOD, be advice on nutrition or recovery. I enjoy being able to set new goals for myself and appreciate the support from both coaches and other members to achieve those goals. Our classes are all coach-led, with functional movements scalable to any ability level. So, you're basically getting small group personal training for less than $10/class (on a monthly membership).
